Global Climate Justice in these times? How?!

2020-06-06, 7pm – 9pm, Circus Tent

In the wake of the massive movement year of 2019, things have indeed fundamentally changed in 2020. But this sudden change is obviously not of the kind we’ve been demanding. How is the global climate justice movement weathering the Corona crisis? How does the Coronavirus shape activists’ daily lives, and how does it affect their struggles? In what ways does it affect specific groups differently, e.g. migrant workers? What can we learn from the crisis, and what repercussions do we expect for climate justice struggles over the coming years?
These big questions will be discussed by activists from four continents on our digital panel, which will take part in the context of the digital Leipziger Land climate camp. This way, we would like to harness the climate camp’s digital exile as a great chance to include activists’ voices from the global South more prominently, and thus to connect struggles across thousands of miles.

Panelists: Vaishali Patil (Ankur Trust, India), Heather Milton-Lightening (Indigenous Climate Action/Indigenous Peoples’ Power Project, First Nations/Canada), Eluka Kibona (FORUMCC, Tanzania) and Linda Schneider (climate activist, Berlin/Germany).
Chair: Sina “Chom” Reisch (Ende Gelände).

This event is kindly supported by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (Saxony).
